Hi. I’m Tom, and welcome to my Web site. My desire with this site is to share with you some of my thoughts, travel stories and pictures, and eventually, maybe some short fiction. You’ll see several themes throughout, as follows:

I love to travel, and do it as much as possible.

I’m fascinated with the Mayan race--history, ruins, beliefs, and the modern-day Mayan descendants.

My body has MS.

I try not to fixate on the MS. I’ve had it for 20 years, and it disabled me four years ago. But the MS affects every day of my life, especially when traveling. The first item I’ve posted is related to this. It’s called, "My Story, and Why I’m Telling It--A Story of Disease, Faith, Growth, and Healing." It’s definitely the most narcissistic thing I’ve written in a good while, but I had something to share. I’m not going to rehash that stuff here. Feel free to click on the link and read the introduction of "My Story." Then continue on if you like, or return to this homepage for some great alternatives.

The second item posted is a collection of travel stories and pictures from several recent trips to Guatemala. (Just click on the thumbnail pictures to open the larger version, then use your back arrow to return to the story.) Most of my time was spent at Tikal and Lake Atitlán, two beautiful locations steeped in history. I also attended Semana Santa 2001 (Holy Week) in Antigua, Guatemala. The festivities are one of the largest and best Easter week celebrations in the Western Hemisphere and were nothing short of spectacular. If you can’t make it to Antigua or want to make a sentimental journey back there, I hope you’ll enjoy the festivities through this site if you wish.

I also visited Italy several years ago with two of my sisters on an informal pilgrimage back to our family’s roots. That was pretty special, and I’ve added some stories and photos from that trip as well.
